Multilingual Information Specialists
If you are able to communicate fluently in more than one language, enjoy varying your tasks daily, have a keen interest in empowering others and want to be in on a developing system, Bridge Translations™ has a great opportunity for you. Our specialists are part of a team dedicated to providing solutions that allow individuals, businesses and organizations to exchange information by removing communication barriers. They have diverse professional backgrounds, sector specific expertise, different cultural experiences but all have a common ability to speak more than one language. We’re a small but fast growing communication solution centre, so if you’re looking for structure and stability this may not be the job for you.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong oral and written multi-lingual communication skills
• Post secondary degree/diploma – preferably in language studies or a professional discipline
• People oriented with great customer service comprehension
• CILISAT, ILISAT, IRB certification preferred but equivalent experience accepted
• Comfortable working at an intermediate level with technology
• Mature thinker with an aptitude for taking initiative
Community Interpreters and Freelance Translators
Bridge Translations™ is constantly searching for skilled and experienced community interpreters and freelance translators. Our community interpreters provide services to various organizations in government and business across the Greater Toronto Area, including York Region, Durham Region and Simcoe County.
Interpreters
Our community interpreters are proficient in English and one or more other language. Our primary clients require services in:
Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Croatian, Farsi, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Korean, Mandarin, Ojibwe, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Slovak, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese
and we have a growing clientele with requests for less mainstream or unique dialect interpretation.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Fluency in English and in one or more other languages
•Degree in language interpretation from an accredited college or university, and/or, successful completion of CILISAT or ILSAT language assessment testing or other Ministry Accreditation
•Experience in the field of community interpretation
•Solid interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police check) required.
•Valid Ontario Driver's license and reliable transportation to appointments.
Translators
Our freelance translators work in a number of print formats from corporate documents to technical files to video scripts. They have excellent communication skills and are proficient in written multi-lingual text. Our translators have a home based office that support advanced computer technology and are more that comfortable in Microsoft Office Suite and other word processing software.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Fluency in English and in one or more other languages.
•ATIO or equivalent certificate.
•Experience in the field of translation.
•Solid communication and organizational skills.
• Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police check) required.
•Windows operating XP or higher operating platform
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
•Knowledge of other computer software, such as Adobe Illustrator, an asset.
